A New Feature Film Screenplay
A story of life choices, consequences, and patience.
A project being developed by Robert Hensley.
STORY
Michael Godwin is a semi-retired, middle-aged gay man. He has worked hard to be able to live comfortably in Palm Springs, and wants only to find a partner with whom to share it all. He thinks he has found the love of his life in the slightly younger and more adventurous Gabe. However, after Michael proposes marriage, Gabe gets cold feet and leaves. Unfortunately, he is killed in an automobile accident before Michael even realizes he'd left.
Michael is sent for a loop. The life he'd been planning is unraveling faster by the second. He calls his best friend, Dana, for backup, and she rushes to be by his side. Michael is questioning the choices he's made, the time and energy he spent on his career instead of a relationship. Just as Dana starts to pull her friend from his dark place, Michael gets another gut-punch in the form of a call from Gabe's sister, Missy. Their father is rushing to Palm Springs to claim his son's body, and stop any chance of Michael even getting to say goodbye to his lover.
Feeling as if he'd never have another chance at finding love, Michael settles in for a restless evening. In the early hours, he is awoken by the ethereal form of Gabe. He comes bearing a message from God; a message which could give Michael the answers he wants and the hope he needs to move forward. In the end, Michael must accept everything happens for a reason.
